I was dying to go to Café Hélène and I finally went this weekend.
We opened the place early, partly because I hate waiting in line, and wow, it was great that we arrived early, because even though the place is big and has 2 floors, it fills up quickly!
The place is very beautiful, cozy, and the menu is very diverse. A plus for the tablet on the table for ordering, but they could have had more than one for the whole table. Our orders ended up arriving at very different times. One of the coffee orders took too long, and we had to order again, but I imagine that happened because it was very crowded.
The house specialty is bread, and I must say I drooled a lot in the display case... I wanted to take one of each home! 😱
Fortunately, I can say that I found a place that lives up to the pastries at Panetteria Carazolli!
I started by ordering the provolone roll, a round croissant filled with béchamel cream, leeks, and provolone cheese, which was incredible! Then I ate the pain suisse, a croissant filled with Sicilian lemon pastry cream, cranberries, and white chocolate chips, and what a wonderful pastry!
Wow, I was enchanted by the pastries there, but I also want to go back to try the sandwiches and toasts I saw on the menu.
I ordered an iced chocolate with cinnamon, which was rich and very tasty! 😋
My friends ordered scrambled eggs with mushrooms, quiche, meringue, a croissant filled with Parma ham, cherry tomatoes (and some other ingredient I don't remember), and extra bacon, but unfortunately the bacon was extremely salty, but that was the only thing that didn't work out.
My friend ordered a dessert with a brownie base covered with pistachio and white chocolate, and it was delicious!!! 😍
In short, I really want to go back! Here's a tip: go early! When we left, there was a huge line at the door!
Prices 💰: Iced chocolate: R$22.00
Provolone roll: R$15.00
Pain suisse cranberry and chocolate: R$18.00

I'm in love with Café Hélène; it was the place I chose to have my civil wedding in May, and I recently returned to celebrate 5 months of marriage and intend to go back many times.
We were served by Ítalo on both occasions, who is very attentive.
The café staff is very welcoming, and the food is delicious and has been getting better and better.
I want to give a special compliment to the dark chocolate cake, which this time was even better than at my wedding, moister and more chocolatey.

Excellent brunch! We highly recommend the orange juices, which were particularly delicious! The almond pain au chocolat was a little dry, but overall we had a very enjoyable time. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was superb. Good value for money.

One of the best cafes in Belo Horizonte. The coffee is very smooth yet intense. The grilled cheese, a simple dish, is of much higher quality. The strawberry jam is incredible and delicious. The dish that stands out for me is the Gravlax: a slice of crispy bread with strained yogurt, cheese, salmon, and a soft-boiled egg. The service is very good; we were very well attended to. The queuing system is well organized. Everything in this cafe is wonderful, and to top it all off, it's pet-friendly. Perfect.

Excellent coffee shop in Belo Horizonte, cozy, beautiful and pleasant space, helpful staff, easy ordering and fast service. Sometimes it gets crowded and you have to wait for a table, but even so it's worth it. Everything I've eaten there so far has been delicious and high quality, 10 out of 10 for their cheesecake (even I, who didn't like it, became a fan). Even in the outdoor area (few tables) you can bring your dog without any problems.

My favorite coffee shop in Belo Horizonte! Excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. The coffee is very tasty and comes in a great quantity. The gravlax sandwich surprises me every time I order it; it's my favorite sandwich here! We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with strawberry jam, and it was delicious.
I highly recommend it! They even got water for our dogs, haha.

What a beautiful place!! One of those that charms you from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is cozy, well-maintained, and makes you want to stay.
In addition to coffee, they also serve lunch, which makes the space even more versatile. Everything is ordered directly through the tablet at the table, in a practical and quick way, and the orders arrive without delay. The dishes are well-served, tasty, and well-presented.
The service works very well. Smart, attentive waiters who are always circulating. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, which makes a difference in the experience.
Another super positive point is that it's perfectly possible to work from there. Comfortable, beautiful, organized environment without excessive noise. There's also an upstairs area, by reservation.

Café Helene is one of those rare spots that manages to feel both effortlessly stylish and completely down-to-earth. Tucked away in Belo Horizonte, it’s a place where the scent of home-baked pastries greets you before you even step inside — and once you do, it’s almost impossible to leave without sampling everything.
The pastries are clearly made with care and love — flaky, buttery, and comfortingly homemade. Each bite feels like something from a family kitchen rather than a commercial bakery. The open sandwiches deserve just as much praise: fresh ingredients, creative combinations, and beautifully balanced flavors that turn a simple lunch into something memorable.
Ordering is done via a sleek tablet system — easy, intuitive, and surprisingly fun to use. It’s a modern touch that never feels gimmicky, and it leaves you more time to relax and soak in the warm, inviting atmosphere.
But what truly makes Café Helene special is the staff. They’re genuinely friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and always ready with a smile or a recommendation. It’s clear they take pride in what they do — and it shows in every detail.
Whether you’re dropping by for a quiet coffee, a hearty sandwich, or a lazy afternoon treat, Café Helene captures the best of Belo Horizonte’s café culture: honest food, thoughtful design, and real hospitality.
☕️ Don’t miss: the seasonal pastries fresh out of the oven — they taste like home.
